/Day 16 – the runway

Day 16 - the runway

Manav ki bas ek chah,
Jeevan path ho diyon se saja,
Aao dhoondhein andheron mein raahein,
Milein anjanon se khole baahein.

(The fear of unknown troubles us. We would like our life to be perfectly mapped out, as per plan but life usually has some other plan. Let’s accept the change and new with open arms.)

/Day 15 – the light

Day 15

Kaanch ko bhedti roshni,
Cheer nahi Sakti dil ke kavach ko,
Wo to paani ki koshish hai,
Jo tod deta hai chattanon ko.

(This is for the Quiet ones, the ones that listen, think and act with patience while world just listens to the loud ones. It is because of these thinkers that we have a world filled with inventions, art, discoveries and much more)

/Day 14 – the vision

Saara jahaan dekhne hum chale, Dhoondhnein kahin kuch aur, Aankhon se hatao kohra, Chalo apno ki or.

Saara jahaan dekhne hum chale,
Dhoondhnein kahin kuch aur,
Aankhon se hatao kohra,
Chalo apno ki or.

(there is too much to see in this world, but first see the things clearly closer to you while the life passes by — too much to own in this world but appreciate what you have and be grateful)

/Day 13 – the language

Kho gaye hain in aksharon mein,
Bhoole aankhon ki hum bhasha,
Shabd ban jaate hain baan,
Par bina inke socho kaisi gaatha’

(we are lost in the midst of these words that are just black scribbles on white paper, no emotions.  infact, ‘lost in translation’ is what creates all the misunderstanding and differences.  if only, our eyes could speak, the truth, like the animals. but we need this necessary evil, it is what helps me (and many others) to communicate my thoughts)

/Day 12 – the summer

Day 12ठंडी धूप ,

thandi dhoop,
doston ka saath,
door kahin sangeet,
zaraa thaam lo ye samaa.

(Europe loves the summer (in contrast to hatred towards heat wave in India). Bristol, during one of those summer days, with good live music and company is fun and relaxing)

/Day 11 – the balloon

maan lo pavan ki,
ya zameen se kar lo dosti,
aey gubbaare,
laga patvaar tu kar le apni disha sahi.

(if you do not compose the music of your own life then someone else will direct the course of your future, so get on to it before life does it for you)

/Day 10 – the door

badalte avadhi aur adhar,
dwaar ki chaukhat par,
bas dhairya hai aavashyak,
hain us or tere sapnon ke par.

(the door is like a portal, to change time and space. it just needs that patience to continue the journey and reach for the wings of my dreams on the other side)

/Day 09 – the taxi driver

‘Bande hain dil ke saaf,
Par dil khule nahin,
Wo tapri ki chai hai yaad,
Par dost yahan nahin.’

(the lines are based on the conversation i had with a taxi driver today – in a big city, people have clean hearts but shut. that makes me remember the tea with friends on that road-side stall in india, but those friends aren’t here)

/Day 08 – the wings

‘Lohe ke pankhon par sawaar,
Jaise yaksh ka le kar sandes,
Aao chalein baadlon ke paar,
Door kahin kisi aur des.’

(With flights every week I feel like the messenger from Sanskrit poem ‘meghdoot’. Just that the mystical mount kailash and Yaksha’s love filled letter to his wife is missing) 🙂

/Day 07 – the colours

‘Rangon ki hai ajab kahani,
Ek rang hai akela,
Do milein toh teesra,
saare mil jayein toh berangi.

(egos spoil the fun in relationships, by loosing our colours in a family, is what makes us a family)

/Day 06 – the dragon

Day 06 - the dragon

(Kids own their mind, their decisions and they show these in every revolt or refusal, or power play. i think somewhere we forget that during our life and give in to demands of pleasing everyone – even though we know that it is impossible to make everyone happy. Dragon is the year our daughter was born in, a symbol of strong-headed)

/Day 05 – muddy puddle

Day 05 - muddy puddle

na darr geele hone ka,
na maile kapdon ki koi chinta,
kya din the wo,
jab khawabon ko tha na koi ginta.

(do not count what we have or not have in life, that’s what spoils the fun … look at a child, do they think of consequences before jumping in muddy puddle?)

/Day 04 – sichuan style gung pao shrimps

Day 04 - gung pao shrimps

Ek yahan, doosra wahan,
Saath chhooth jaate hain kuch nishaan,
Yaad hai wo mehek, aur wo ehsaas,
Kahin wo baatein, aur wo saamaan.

(there are certain experiences, spices, places, sights, people that remind us of a certain place and time. it is to relive that moment. sometimes as simple as cooking Gung pao shrimps with proper spices and recipe from china, where we have spent 4-5 years)

/Day 03 – shivani’s toy

Day 03 - shivani's toy

‘kitna kuch hai seekhna,
abhi toh bus hai shuruwaat,
bas chalna hi hai aaya ab tak,
sapno ko samjhaane ki hai baat’

(I see in my daughter a constant effort to learn new things, be it words, expressions or actions.  The sentences are broken now but it is a race to find, explain and achieve the dreams someday.)

/who understands developing markets better?

Recently Jan Chipcase left Nokia design and joined Frog.  here is the report from Frog design website about his role in the team and his experience that is a valuable contribution to Frog. I am not criticizing or analysing Jan’s or Frog design, but something that has stayed with me from that report is where they talk about a Western designer’s understanding of Asian market.  I am sure we all have seen many reports describing certain western designer spending a month living in a village in India, China or Africa. A western designer visiting or performing user studies in developing markets gets a huge praise but there isn’t the same deal on the opposite way i.e., if an asian designer has experience of western markets and lived in these markets. /past 3 months ….

I am writing this post after a long time because of my various trips across the globe during this period that have been keeping me busy, not to mention the work of arranging the wedding ceremonies was also the spoiler.  But I am finally writing here, while on a train ride through the white snow laden landscape of Finland, especially the thoughts that I have been accumulating for the past 2-3 months, starting from the journey in Germany, one of those ideal democratic countries.  Why did I bring this remark of democracy is because of the architectural rules that bog the citizens of Germany or overall Europe.  A person saves a lot of money to build his own house and then he can’t even build it according to his own wish design.  This is due to various bye-laws stating the type of architecture that has to be followed in a certain region and the kind of elements that can be used, extra fees to be paid to maintain certain type of old structures, etc. How is that democratic?  I do understand that this is not at all the harmful breach of human rights (as it happens in the developing world and many developed countries) but it is still the whole life savings of a person we are talking about.  I did try to understand about the restrictions but no law should be above the human heart, especially if it concerns an individual’s own legal investments. phew, it does work … and so simple …. although it did take me some time to figure out the ID number of the post …. why cant this be simple and wordpress just lets us make any number posts inside the Page ?

well, all you guys out there, if you need the same help, refer to this Inline plugin

and yeah, the only place i could find the ID of the post was in the webaddress window of browser … i.e., the last number on the whole address. if there is any other place to find the Post ID, i will be delighted to learn about it so pls let me know.

Reincarnation

and my blog was born again …. yeah, but this time it is on www.hiteshbagai.com ….. with the tiring ordeal of domain name registration, hosting space purchase, uploading and downloading blunders …. but, i am back …. asta la vista babeh !

whoooppie … I am back in the game (sitting in CHN)

Woohoo…i am back !! Although, it took me one week to crack through the firewall! Thanks to the support team at WordPress for amazingly fast and useful reply to my SOS call. Also, i would like to thank the Gladder developer team for making such a nice plugin, easy to use and works behind the biggest firewall(costliest one ever built). i hope the government never finds a block for this one.

and, as the best practices should be shared for everyone’s welfare, here is the link where you can download a plugin for firefox and it ultimately opens all the banned webpages through proxies. it works …. i am posting this message through this plugin.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2864

During this time, i have planned a series of Social topics that i have always wanted to write on and would like to hear the views from others. Once again, keep looking for this space.
